This is a collection of pitches that Oliver has created for class. By practicing these types of pitches, Oliver has become well versed in putting together research presentations and concept pitches, there are several examples below. Oliver has a fascination with creative direction and producing, and has included these in his portfolio as examples of research and concept work.
During 2021, the lighting design department at CCM did projects with HLB, an architectural lighting design company. The company came and did a series of lectures on this type of design and had students create theoretical pitches on architectural lighting design for two spaces in a soccer stadium. This was Oliver's final concept presentation, which was his first venture into pitching outside of theatre. (Class project, not realized)
This is a theoretical pitch for a halftime show for Oliver's university, the University of Cincinnati, which he created to showcase ideas to the Cincinnati Bearcats Athletics department as concepts for what their show could look like with him as a creative director. (Class project, not realized)
This is the concept pitch for a class project called BOOM which is a large-scale show involving media, lighting, sound, and automation. It's a group project, where many students are involved and expected to develop a ten-minute show based on a concept. Oliver acted as the lead creative for his group and the content creator/media designer. This is the concept pitch for that show, which was realized and can be found on this website here.
The purpose of this presentation was to create a research brief on an artist that encapsulated their visual style. Oliver was tasked with researching an artist from scratch and preparing a research brief. They created this presentation on Fletcher, all of this is research and not original ideas, except for the final slide. The last slide in particular was a challenge to show where you would take this artist next visually if you were their creative director.
Oliver served as one of the creative leads on the FOUND Cincinnati project for 2021, which involved creating holiday-themed media in window spaces in the downtown area. This was the pitch they put together to give a grasp of general ideas to present to the company that was overseeingĀ and allocating budget to the project. This realized project can be found on his website here.
